Hey without going all political left wing psycho on me, can you sum up in a nutshell what libby did that was so wrong. Here's my take on the story.

Evidently, reporters and gov officials battle all day long and then go out for drinks and gossip at night. Long held tradition.

Anway, Wilson was an unknown congressman. Not on anyone's radar at all. So, all of a sudden Wilson gets called away on a trip to Africa. Basically, the rumors around the press guys is that he must have been sent there by someone within the Bush administration, but none of them can figure out why they would send a no-name guy like him.

Well, I guess this discussion reaches the White House and Libby is told that he wasn't sent there by anybody. His wife is a CIA working there and she invited him to come.

So, over drinks one night, to quell the rumors of why this nobody was sent on a trip to Africa, Libby explains that he wasn't sent. His wife is CIA and he went because she asked him.

Is that basically what happened?

Its more like Cheyney got pissed when he read Wilsons op Ed and assumed his wife sent him, she wasnt in Niger. All Cheyney had to do was make a few calls to learn that the CIA did in fact send Wilson but with no involvment from his wife. Whats going to come out soon is because it was an official CIA visit that Wilson was on there was a legit CIA report floating around that contradicted all the yellow cake from Niger that was in the state of the Union before the speech happened that was either ignored or "lost". The case shows that the focus of the administration before the war in Iraq was not finding the truth about WMD's or Iraq's links to Alquieda but stamping out any contradictory views that could hurt the case for going to war. My big thing is wheres the loyalty to Libby? I have a hard time believing he lied without being told to do so since it was really the vice president who set the focus on Wilsons wife even though he knew she was a cia agent and outting her was crime.

Okay, so Plame (his wife) wasn't in Niger. She was at CIA headquarters. So, why was Wilson made a CIA operative and sent to Niger to find out if Saddam was buying yellow cake uranium from Niger? I mean, the guy is a low level Democrat. It doesn't make sense.

Was it just coincidence that his wife is CIA and then the CIA hires him to go and do this?

I'm not arguing that it was wrong to out his wife, I just can't figure out why he was the guy assigned to go and find that information.

Wilson was an ambassador(sp) during the Clinton years.It's apparently normal to send diplomats on fact finding missions.Its a fact that his wife had nothing to do with sending him.That is the reason the Wilsons are able to sue Libby and Cheyney in civil court which they are.I hear you on it's strange that they sent Wilson but it only is because he wrote a op ed that contradicts Cheyneys yellow cake assertions.If he wrote a article that agreed with the administrations point of view do you think his wife would have been outed or would we even know his name for that matter?The crazyiest part about this and am not afraid to say shows the incompetance of the Bush administration is that all the vice president needed to do was make a few phone calls to find out Wilson was sent by the CIA without his wifes help.
