A robot went mad at work - ntype - 11-15-2005
Apparentely there had been a problem with a piece that was worked on...anyhow the piece rotated waaay to fast then was quickly ejected.
Result.
1 hole through the armoured window of the machine, 1 big hole through the window of the room.
We searched for the piece but looks like it has been sent to the moon.

luckily it wasn't something worth more than his weight in material. anyhow I wouldn't have been the dude receiving that stuff..imagine a all distorded with cutting edge piece of metal arriving at a huge speed toward you from the sky (we are on the 5th floor here)...

your lucky the piece didnt do through the operators's head and kill him.......that happened here at work a few years ago.

I have a buddy who is a rocket scientist (no shit) and works doing, fuck I dunno, rocket scientist shit. Anyway, they had some kind of turbine spinning, and one of the metal cables for it came loose and was spinning around too quick to see. Three guys lost the tips of their fingers trying to get close to the thing before they were able to shut it down.

to some extend they take their own decisions (like changing a tool when it's broken or used). but if you had in mind something like r2d2 going postal...we're still not here.

yeah luckily for him he went away fine, and more luckily the piece got ejected in the right angle : no-one armed, no damage caused to the machine, apart the door, and no other robot armed.
