I Don't normally get Pissed at the Cops - Flumper Barflusterbutt - 03-09-2006

But this morning, I got pulled over for a ticket. I was on a four lane (two lanes each direction) farm to market road this morning in a really heavily populated area. It was about 7:30 so the road was jam packed with people going to work or school. I was in about a one mile backup at a red light. Now, 95% of the cars are waiting at the red light to continue straight. I was planning to turn right and there is a shoulder.

I wait in the traffic, through several light changes. Finally, I am getting close to the light and it goes red one last time. The shoulder is clear and so, I cross the white line onto the shoulder, go past about 3 cars and then the right turn lane starts. Another car is coming down the shoulder behind me. We both make the right turn and a cop comes out of the bushes and pulls us both over.

I had no idea what the fuck he was doing. When he came to the window I asked him what I did wrong. He said "Improper pass". Then he walks back to his car. When he came back, I said "I have no idea what you are talking about". He said I skipped waiting in the traffic and passed everyone on the shoulder. I said, "Bullshit. I sat in that traffic for 20 minutes." He said, "I have you on video." I said, "Bullshit. There is no way you have me on video driving down that shoulder to avoid waiting. Let me see it." He said, "You'll have to subpoena it." I said, "Pussy." He said, "Are we going to have a problem." I said, "Not here." Then he walked off.

I am so pissed. I'll probably mail the mother fucking ticket to a lawyer and let him handle it and do nothing about it.

I appreciate that you'll spend 3 grand to get out of a $85 ticket. seriously, those fucks piss me off too

This thread makes my head want to explode and I'll explain why.

The roads around here mostly have a very wide shoulder for one reason alone. Amish buggies. although it's a nice idea cause it keeps a buggie going 5 mph from clogging up traffic moving 35mph + it has become almost like a second lane for most motorists. Example: the other morning I'm sitting at a red light in a 3 way intersection that takes maybe 2 cyles to get through. I got passed on the right by some not one. but 5 cars because I stayed in the fucking lane. My choices were to either make a left or go strait. Because 1 person is waiting for a hole in oncoming traffic to make a left people think that everyone must be making a left and it's ok to pass on the right....I went strait and ended up running some dipshit in a jetta off the road when he was trying to re-merge into moving traffic........don't even get me started on people blocking an intersection either.

What you did technically is illegal(at least here in Michigan) but I'd never pull someone over for it. Sounds like the guy gets off from writing tickets. I have a few co-workers like that.

I usually sit in traffice for 1.5 hours per day. that is about 45 going to work, and 45 going home. Entire commute runs me about 2 hours total. 75 percent of my daily freeway time is spent in traffic. Yesterday, it would have taken me roughly 3 hours to get to work due to a roll over accident. I ended up working remote from Starbucks.

Well, technically its illegal to carry wire cutters in texas, too. But, that fuck got it wrong this time. He was hiding in those fucking bushes so he could catch people that skipped the one mile back up and went down the shoulder. I didn't do that. He said I did. When he said that I went around all of the traffic by driving on the shoulder, he was calling me a liar. I can't stand that shit. I know what happened. He saw it wrong. He made a mistake. Fucking douche bag. And, IF he has this "tape", why not plug it in. Let's see it. Don't make me get a fucking subpoena for it. That's chicken shit. He's a fucking loser.

One of my best friends is an attorney in a lawfirm and one of his partners is the mayor of that town. I might call the guy. But I know I'll forget about all of this tomorrow and just find someone to get me out of it for $50.

The in-car cameras on most police cars have the actual tape recorder in a locked box. These are accessible only by a supervisor. If he had one of the systems that has a playback feature in the car he probably didn't show you because he was wrong and figures that the odds are you'll pay the ticket and forget about it.

Quite a few do. Court usually means overtime. I personally don't like to go to court. I rarely patrol anymore and I'm not a fan of writing tickets.

Depends on the case. Most are indifferent. Overtime is overtime. There are some however, like the guy who pulled over Flumper, who are pissed at every case they lose. I work with a guy who whines like a bitch anytime one of his tickets is thrown out or reduced.
