Former champion Maria Sharapova on Thursday hailed Wimbledon's plan to pay equal prize money to men and women, calling herself "thrilled" with the revolutionary decision.
"Wimbledon has always been a leader in so many ways in the world of tennis, said the teenaged 2004 champion at the All England club. "I'm thrilled with the decision to award equal prize money.
"This will only strengthen the bond between women's players and one of the world's great sporting events."

I'd still like to see them use mines in tennis, though.
