Ray Allen suspended one game
Boston Celtics guard
Ray Allen was suspended one game without pay for elbowing
Cleveland Cavaliers forward
Anderson Varejao in the groin on Sunday, the NBA announced on Tuesday.
Allen, who averages 18.2 points and 3.5 rebounds, will serve his suspension when the Celtics visit the
Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday. Allen will be docked more than $167,000 in salary.
Kevin Garnett also will miss the game to rest his strained knee.
Tempers boiled in the third quarter of Boston's 107-76 loss at Cleveland on Sunday when Varejao and Allen got tangled under the basket after a free throw.
Varejao flung Boston's guard to the floor, and Allen responded with a well placed elbow into the forward's groin area. Both players jawed at each other before getting technical fouls.
"It was a dirty play," Allen said. "He locked my arm and threw me to the ground. I wasn't going to allow him to think he could do whatever he wanted. I'm always going to stand up for myself. It's one thing for a team to be beating us, but they're not going to walk all over us."
The frizzy-haired Varejao had his own take.
"You don't hit a man in his [groin]," he said. "He doesn't like Brazilians or he doesn't like my hair."

I watched the Celts\Sixers game last night and got to witness the worst in bounds play for the last shot to win it ever.1.2 seconds left, sixers down 2 and Andre Miller is throwing it in from just over half court but can't find anyone so he calls a TO.Then they have Thaddeus Young I think throw it in and Miller stands 5 feet from the ball posting up 40 feet from the basket while Andre Igudala runs a half marathon underneath the basket to 3 feet from Miller.Andre gets the ball and can't get a clean shot and heaves a 45 foot three that barely touches the rim.I can't say it was bad execution because I'm not sure the play could have ever been executed correctly it was so bad.
If I was a team in the East I would want to be playing the sixers in the playoffs right now. They have talent in Young, Igudala and miller somewhat but nobody should be scared of them in a 5 or 7 game series.I hope they get swept just so there is no doubt they need a new coach.Mo Cheeks could have gotten them this far and the new coach who's such a nobody I won't even mention his name has over achieved so unbelievably just to be an NBA head coach he'll be telling his grand kids about how he lead the sixers to the playoffs like its a major accomplishment.I'm kind of sad Flip Saunders is going to the Bullets because at this point I'd actually consider him a major upgrade at coach and I don't see anyone on the horizon that wants the Philly job that will be any good.
They might as well save the air fare for the playoff teams and just anoint the Lakers NBA champions. They were the favorite already without Bynum but now that he's back its a no brainer.
Celts\Cav's will be a good series but I see the Lebrons handling them pretty easy.Kobe\Lebron will be an epic matchup in the finals and Lebron will go off for a legendary game or games to get them one or two wins but the lakers will prevail in the end.
Since KG's career is basically done was it worth the trade for him just for one championship?

I like the Cavs defense and home court against the Lakers in the finals. Yes I know LA beat them in Cleveland.
I think any trade that results in a title is worth it. Similar deal with Beckett/Lowell for Hanley Ramirez.
