I disliked Paterno growing up but he had his moments despite shitty QB's.
I hate Saban but you have to put him on the list.

Tom Osborne 255-49-3 (regular season) 12-13 (bowls)
Bobby Bowden 377-129-4 (regular season) 21-10-1 (bowls)
Urban Meyer 104-23 (regular season) 7-1 (bowls)
Joe PA 401-135-3 (regular season) 24-12-1 (bowls)
Nick Saban 134-53-1 (regular season) 6-6 (bowls)
Looking at this I take off Osborne and Saban. As of now on Saban.. he can still build a solid resume but I wouldn't call him "greatest" yet.

Bowl games are kind of bullshit but being below .500 in them like Osbourne is looks pretty bad for a "great" coach.
If you disqualify Saban you have to take Meyer off the list too.They have the same amount of national championships.

I can agree with you there. The kicker for me with Meyer is that he hasn't coached long but is 7-1 in bowls. Wasn't Meyer the coach that beat Oklahoma the first time? Thats a big deal. Also I bet he'll be coaching again in a year or two so its an incomplete.
I was shocked at Osborne's bowl record. I remember that game when Nebraska throttled Spurrier and Florida... But damn T? 12-13?

Fuck Meyer after not going to Notre Dame.
After criticizing Osbornes bowl record I'll defend it.There werent as many bowl games back then and with his team always winning a lot of regular season games he ended up playing higher quality teams every year at the end of the season.I don't think he won or lost and Tire city bowl games.

Meyer will take a big time job somewhere.
I hear your defense of Osborne but look at bowdens record. Granted he may have had some cupcake bowls here lately but thats pretty impressive. Looking at Osbornes record he lost 7 straight bowl games between 1987 and 1993.
Where does Tressel rank on the list? I mean dude let his players trade stuff for autos.. but he was pretty solid as for as his coaching record.

Tressel doesnt rank.One championship plus the scandal and his best years were the Clarett years.
He's also a symptom of why I can't get jacked up about College football.When you read the college football section of a sports website nowadays its like reading a legal journal or police blotter.To much shady shit going on to be sure who's legit and who isnt.

I still think ND is a fraud team, but strangely I think Alabama would be a good matchup for them in the title game.
