SHOCKING - halfasleep - 05-14-2004

I can imagine.... we had an installer (stupidly) working on some equipment while it was live... he 'glanced' his hand across a contact... and his thumb nearly exploded (imploded?)... lots of blood... lucky for him people were around to help!!

Nothing to screw around with.

SHOCKING - Hambone - 05-15-2004

But I would rather be hit with 480 AC than 24 DC Cry

No, Velvet, that time I wasn't joking... high voltage, AC or DC Ham, is nothing to screw around with. What happened to that installer was a site that needed to seen to be believe and I won't ever forget. :|

NOW.. this IS a joke and a true story.

A antenna installer was out working on a Boradcast tower at several thousand feet up. Somewhere along the line he didn't tie his tether line to the tower and a gust of wind blew him off. He fell that great distance, hitting the ground, breaking both legs and I think his back, too! He was still alive, surprisingly!

His partner on the tower made a call and they got him to a hospital. Since the guy was still concious, though in a great deal of pain, the nurse started asking routine questions. When she asked "Are you allergic to anything?" he lifted his head, looked at the nurse and said "Gravity!"

Supposedly he brought the emergency room to a complete stop for a moment!! Wink

Half I know I work with both and I still think 480 is better than 24. 480 will knock you off hopefully, but 24 will keep you on due to amps!
