Wilson was an ambassador(sp) during the Clinton years.It's apparently normal to send diplomats on fact finding missions.Its a fact that his wife had nothing to do with sending him.That is the reason the Wilsons are able to sue Libby and Cheyney in civil court which they are.I hear you on it's strange that they sent Wilson but it only is because he wrote a op ed that contradicts Cheyneys yellow cake assertions.If he wrote a article that agreed with the administrations point of view do you think his wife would have been outed or would we even know his name for that matter?The crazyiest part about this and am not afraid to say shows the incompetance of the Bush administration is that all the vice president needed to do was make a few phone calls to find out Wilson was sent by the CIA without his wifes help.

So, the CIA picks Wilson because he had a presence in Africa from his two years as an Ambassador there. He knew people and they would talk to him. So the CIA hires him because he might can get some answers. But they denied connections to Saddam.

Is it right that it was really Quadaffi (sp?) that blew the whistle on the connection with Saddam and Niger? That Quadaffi even went as far as to disarm and let inspectors in to Libya in order to get the US/Nato to stop Saddam and Niger from working together on enriching uranium. Even if that is now false information, wasn't Quadaffi really the one that pushed that story?

My understanding of Libya and qudaffi's sudden change of stance as far as being an enemy to the west is he realized that Libya's economy(aka his pockets) was always going to be stifled without good relations with the EU which means good relations with America.I believe the start of that was when he paid millions to the families of the Lockerbie plane bombing. I read last week that Libya hired a Economic advisory firm from Boston to evaluate and recommend changes to their economy.With their positioning right off Europe they should be a major trade force in Africa which they werent because of the sanctions.I think Libya was just trying to be helpful and probably knew what kind of info we wanted on Iraq but I havent heard anyone credible say the info was accurate(the British discounted it before Bush's state of the union where he mentioned it).You would hope you would have more than one source for a claim like that before going to war.
