Big Al's problem is that he can't/doesn't play defense. Most people in Boston were sad to see him leave and knew that the Wolves were getting the better offensive player (or at least an equal at a younger age). It's the defense/intensity/leadership that made a difference on the Celtics.

But he's obviously not turned them into a winner, which is exactly what most expected to happen. So I see your point.
