too successfully, stick to inept thievery

Confusednarg:

I realise that I have a past to break with--an accumulation of inertia, wrong, foolishness, rot, junk.  A great need of clarification, of mindfulness, or rather, of no mind.  A need to return to genuine practice, right effort.  Need to push on the great doubt.  Need for the spirit.  Hang on to the clear light.

leucetios Wrote:Having said what I said, I need to add this. Controversy gets a reaction. A reaction means ratings. That's the reason this station had people on there in the morning that were likely to do things like this.

So. Is the Company being hippocritical? Should they take a stand? Say we're sorry it offended people, and stick to their guns? Or are they right in cowtowing to the corporate sponsors and media watchdogs?
This question could best be answered by a more qualified panel. I would nominate Jerry Springer, Geraldo Rivera, Howard Stern and Dan Rather.

He is the guy who the masses tend to listen to. If he likes something it will be big, if he hates it it will fail. He has that kind of pull with the general populace. However, he makes it a point to promote mediocre things, and anything that is actually good and high quality he denigrates it and puts it down. In a nutshell.

It was played on Hot 97 by the morning crew. (miss jones) The whole morning show staff was fired afterwards. They all each had to donate a weeks salary towards it.

fountainhead is the only one I've read. Stern is ok, and he makes me chuckle on occasion, but when I read the book the parallels between them were undeniable

I've been wary of her because of the guy I know who recommended her initially. He's a bizarre, libertarian, Russsian dude with some interesting views.

1. Should they have been fired for this parody?

2. Where's the line between tasteless and acceptable?

1. no if you don't like something on the radio you can still change station. "oh my god you dare have some laugh about some catastrophis blah blah blah" (ok dudette who gets scandalized tell me seriously how much do you cared about "thoses poors people" before that hapenned).

2. The limit stays in your audience. (see point 1 if you don't like something).

While it is in good mood not to laugh at poor people, different people, sick people, rich people, young people, old people, different religion people, people who were in the middle of newsmedia, people who are people, people who loves animals, people who don't love animals, people who hunt, people who owns cars, people who travels with airplanes, sexual jokes...
(now find something funny that won't offend anyone who got 20lb of shit stuck in their ass and don't seems to understand the "2nd grade or 3rd or 4th grade joke"

For all intents and purposes it would seem as if they did piss off their audience. They got tons of complaints, not to mention someone from their own show objecting to it. Someone who normally has a part in creating these parodic songs (from what I could gather).

Wouldn't that seem to indicate they went over the bounds of good taste "for their audience"?

Leu, I personally think that they went overboard. I had a foreman a few months ago who got into an accident on the jobsite with a foreman from another company. My foreman cursed out the guy who's truck he hit. Then my foreman got on the phone with that guy's boss and cursed him out. My foreman shot the finger at the boss when he came to the jobsite to see what happened.

When I found out about it, I fired my foreman. He did not represent my company well. I did not appreciate the things that he said. He did not have the freedom of speech to represent the company that he worked for in that way.
