So a killer whale in Seaworld killed a trainer this week. Anyone feel sorry for this chick, or do you feel like she knew what she was getting into, it wasn't like she was training puppies.

Apparently her pony tail caused this? "Dawn had very long hair in a ponytail. That ponytail had swung in front of him. He grabbed her by the hair and pulled her underwater and held her underwater."
I say bullshit. If she's worked with this whale before isn't like she grew a pony tail overnight and the whale had never seen it. Besdies, even if the whale thought "ooooh fish" you'd think when it didn't taste like fish, and turned out to be attached to a human it would let her go.
Secondly " it's the third time Tillikum has been involved in a human's death".
I say this was straight up murder. The whale targeted her. But again, think twice before playing with anyone/thing called "KILLER" anything.

This whale has been involved in 2 deaths before this one sooo, yeah, I'd say she knew what she was getting into. I do feel sorry for her family because no one wants to go through the death of a loved one, but you can't cage a huge WILD animal for most of its life and expect its mental health to not suffer drastically. I hope now they get the point that this whale is done amusing humans and release it back into the wild or move it somewhere that it can be a little happier and not murder people if release isn't possible.

I hadn't heard that this whale had killed two other people. Seems to me it should have been released long ago, or at least not working with humans again.

Yup. One was a trainer here in Victoria and the other one was someone who snuck into the exhibit to "swim with the whales".

People (especially men) do stupid stuff every day. He's dead, he doesn't need your sympathy. But he was still someone's son, think about how that mom felt to find out her son had died in such a pointless manner. That's who gets my sympathy in that situation.

In all honesty, I feel for the families too. It sucks. I just feel worse for the whale.

I used to have a t-shirt that said "STUPID KILLS" in smaller print below that "Just not often enough"
I'm sorry for the greiving family that their son was dumb enough to swim with a KILLER whale. But let's face it, he might have done the gene pool a favor.
