I run iTunes for all audio files and Windows Media for anything else that doesn't require QuickTime.

Windows media player. I can't get QuickTime to work. I suck at computers so it's not surprising. But whatever is on QT I don't get to see.

yes...fuck quicktime, i still can't get that shit to work on my home PC.

i checked out Itunes, just to see how easy it is to use in case i decide to get an Ipod. Its pretty much the easiest to use, besides WMP...I just hate the hang up I get using WMP.

Experiment with the playlist function. You can set playlists by definitions, so if you want only your top rated (4 or 5 stars) songs from the genre "rock" and released in the 70s, it takes about 15 seconds to create the list.

Assuming you have everything labeled correctly.

Say an audio file has a generic file name, for instance "Mos Def & Talib Kweli (Black Star) track 03 Definintion"

Would Itunes assume track name, artist, and album from the file listed above?

You can try to find file names over the internet (I think from the "advanced" screen), but iTunes may not be able to determine the information.

I spent a lot of time using Google to add file names, CD information, genre, and CD release dates.

I used to use Windows Media player, but I got an iPod and spent two days trying to get around using iTunes, but I finally gave in. So now I use iTunes

I like it. I had bought a 256 Mb MP3 player cause I didn't want to put out the money for an iPod. Then I got one for my b'day like a month later ><

Initially loading the iPod takes some time. It took my computer overnight and then some to convert all my WMAs from my CDs to the iPod format. And then another couple hours to load them all onto the iPod. Now that its done though, I have 8 gigs of music on the iPod. The clincher though was that I also got this:

Its a Bose speaker that you plug the iPod into, so no more shitty computer speakers at work.

Biggest complaint: Won't play WMA files, and that's what my library downloads audio books as.

Best Feature: 30 gig drive means all my music is on there, with 20 gig to spare.

I dunno.. does that even answer your question?

iPods are fun.

I use iTunes for audio, the library system on it is great, and WMP for most video.

Yeah it does. Since most of my day consists of listening to music, I could see how I'd get a lot of use from one. Thing is I keep waiting for one to drop in my lap (sup' Foolery) because I don't want to drop $300 on something that I don't really need. I get by fine without one, but it would be convenient.

I thought like that too, until I got one. I had an mp3 cd player and it was great for me, so i said I didn't need an iPod, and didn't want to give apple money. Then I actually got an iPod, the next time I picked up that cd player was when I was moving out of my dorm.

Yeah, that's exactly the way I felt. I just couldn't see spending that kind of money on it. I'm glad someone else did though and gave it to me.
