"Sheep" by Pink Floyd...
#1

...is one of the greatest songs ever written that lasts longer than 10 minutes. Roger Waters is a musical genius.

Most of the songs that fall in that category go to Mr. Pink anyway.

Tool's live version of Sober is also a winner. Danny Carey is a fucking madman on drums.

I completely agree. In addition, I think Pink Floyd is the greatest band ever. Echos is another great song of theirs that lasts over 10 minutes.

I want to change my post, "Dogs" off of the same album is way better than "Sheep" and it lasts 17 minutes. David Gilmore contributed to this song, and besides being pretty good on an axe, I think his song writing skillz suck shit.

Gilmore did a good job with Momentary Lapse of Reason I thought, but otherwise I'll have to agree. As much of a musical god as Waters is, Gilmour was still the Ying to his Yang.

Fuck that shit! Momentary Lapse of Reason was shit, complete diareha! "Learning to Fly" sucked, the whole piece of shit sucked. As far as I'm concerned, Pink Floyd died when Roger left.

Pink Floyd is one step above the Muzak they play when I get my teeth drilled. Boring.

I just recently picked up The Wall: Live in Berlin DVD...it rocks my nuts off.

clay gets a point and one half for this

I realise that I have a past to break with--an accumulation of inertia, wrong, foolishness, rot, junk.  A great need of clarification, of mindfulness, or rather, of no mind.  A need to return to genuine practice, right effort.  Need to push on the great doubt.  Need for the spirit.  Hang on to the clear light.

one either loves or hates the Dead, but a bunch of their very best shit is over 10 minutes...

anyhew, Animals is a great. moody album...it doesn't get as much acclaim, due to it's release proximity falling right between Dark Side and the Wall...

Fearlessly and Granchester Meadows are 2 of my favorites songs from their earlier period (neither is 10 minutes long, but I had to mention them anyway)

i can imagine. i can remember laying on the floor watching the ceiling cracks move, then turning into blue Kool-Aid while listening to "Dark SIde." Sometimes I still get that gurgling feeling in my stomach like I just ate a batch of shrooms when I listen to anything Pink Floyd. They helped transform me into the hippy I am today.

I watched the Wall for the first time while I was booming my brains out after munching on a 2-3 gram deep indigo shroom...acid did me better than shrooms, though...shrooms made me feel like pulling my spine out and coiling myself backwards, like a snake...made me a bit anti-social...

there is NOTHING like top shelf LSD...haven't done it in 10 years...

I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused.
Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used.
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise.
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this
maze?

Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretending
That everyone's expendable and no-one has a real friend.
And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner
And everything's done under the sun,
And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer.

Who was born in a house full of pain.
Who was trained not to spit in the fan.
Who was told what to do by the man.
Who was broken by trained personnel.
Who was fitted with collar and chain.
Who was given a pat on the back.
Who was breaking away from the pack.
Who was only a stranger at home.
Who was ground down in the end.
Who was found dead on the phone.
Who was dragged down by the stone.
