There is an IP address conflict with another system on this network.
Okay, so this message keeps popping up. What does it mean and should I freak out about it?

Yeah, that happens a lot. You are going to want to delete your "config.sys" file and empty your "windows directory" folders.

It means someone else, or another device on your network is sharing the same IP.

Something is up with the server, not on your end. Don't worry too much about it, unless it becomes a consistant problem.

Okay thanks, J. And Tribal. And Bird (not) but I still love you.
well sharing "common ip's" is not really a good idea, however you didn't gave much informations...is it @home, @work, connection type (fixed network I understood so you may have some dsl/cable router somewhere)....

Ntype, I'm at home, a fixed network dsl connection, desktop computer with a router, yes. (Gawd I don't know what I'm talking about) but I also have a laptop that is wireless which I use in another room sometimes. However, the laptop has not had this message.
So far I haven't seen that message again on my desktop since I first reported it here. If it happens again, I'll be begging for your help.

ntype Wrote:Ok so you have wireless, did you secured you wifi connection with some kind of WEP key or did you let it "open to the public" ?
Next time it happens you should check on your router administrative website the connected clients to see where is the problem
I think you might as well have asked her to write a pearlscript...
