Sears, tackle on Eagles' 1948-49 NFL title teams, dies at 88 (AP)

Vic Sears, a member of the Philadelphia Eagles championship teams of 1948-49, has died at 88. He died Thursday at his home in Winston-Salem, N.C. A tackle out of Oregon State, Sears played 13 seasons and 131 games with the Eagles. He was part of the "Steagles" in 1943, a team formed when Philadelphia temporarily merged with the Pittsburgh Steelers due to a manpower shortage during World War II.
