lets say you are building a gym.
for the sake of this question it's for basketball.
Now it's for seasonal operation by your client
Not heated or air conditioned.
What is the best coating to put on the concrete floor?
Needs to be something nicer than just sealed/painted concrete.

Depends on how much they want to spend. Some type of paint is about the only thing that makes sense. If you put down any kind of rubber style floor it would take away from the way the ball bounces. You could use those built up rubber surfaces like they put on outdoor running tracks, but again, that wouldn't do well for basketball.
You might look into the running track surfaces though. Certainly would be all temperature type of thing. Resilient, would last a long time indoors.
