I was just pointing out that GWB was pretty consistently portrayed as a monkey. Maybe the cartoonist wanted to liken Obama to Bush? I just don't understand why the cartoonist/newspaper didn't see what was wrong with their idea.

I think there are a number of scenarios by which the cartoonist made that cartoon:

1- he's a racist and made a racist cartoon

2- he realized cartoon could possibly be perceived as racist, but didn't think people would ultimately see it that way

3- he's a moron who didn't even see the possibility of racism



if it's 2 or 3, there's obviously another point to his cartoon, right? IF it's 2 or 3, why else could he have chosen a monkey?
