Yeah, he won't have to get a new uniform each year as long as it still fits him. He grows like a weed so I don't think we'll be that lucky. We have to get new cleats because his cleats from fall ball are too small now.

If I remember correctly, SAY is either $75 or $85 per season per kid (includes one shirt, shorts and socks).

the biggest problem with youth hockey, in massachusetts anyway, is that parents put their kids on 2 or 3 teams year-round, and all they do is play games and tourneys and scrimmages. there's just not enough practice anymore.

people around here were sort of freaking out that there was only one, maybe two, guys on the USA hockey team from new england, and that's probably why.

You have to have practice. I mean, yeah, games can be good practice, but you need actual practices to learn to work together as a team and hone your skills. Soccer around here, they do a really nice job with making sure the kids understand the fundamentals. There are certain things he's expected to practice on a daily basis. His current schedule is 2 say practices, 2 select practices and 1 indoor game each week. Once select and say games start, the say practice will probably drop to one/week (unless my bf who is asst. coach on that team has anything to say about it).

As far as Olympic athletes go you either have it or don't, practice matters very little.I think there's too much practice at such a young age.My nephew has two basketball practices a week and only one game.

I have four sisters and at one time we all were active in travel and intermural soccer.My sisters won state titles for travel and were all americans in college.We would travel all over to tournaments every weekend.Mass, Texas, florida.There was a reason we were poor when I was growing up.

I think practice is important- if for nothing else, the comraderie with your teammates. I agree, some kids have it and some don't. I'll be honest. My boy is not an offensive player by any means. He is ridiculously good at being a defender, but stick him on offense and you'll be sorry.

I think that's good that your parents gave you guys those opportunities. I personally never played soccer. My bf did and got a college scholarship to play soccer. My kids love it and I've learned to love it over the past few years. Out of all the stuff my kids do, I love watching them play soccer more than anything.

You need to learn and develop your skillset in addition to playing games. games are obviously important (and more fun) but practice is what's going to make you good. ('sup Iverson?)

Yeah, you get to hone your skills. Now, I don't know shit about hockey, golf or chemistry, but I do play a mean violin.

$90 for just the uniform is ridonkulous. How much is it for the league fees? I'd think the uniform would be included in those costs.

I hope my son will be into sports when he's a bit older but damn!!
