Thanks to the Bush administration and the U.S.A. PATRIOT Act home buyers now have to undergo a background check to purchase a house or condo. The government maintains a list of "specifically designated nationals" that are blocked from any dealings in property or interests. There are approximately 100,000 people on this list. These people are suspected of planning terrorist acts, or have already done so. Failure of the lending institutions to check the people involved with the property transaction to the list will be fined $65,000. Some lenders charge $25 to $30 per person involved in the deal.
Thanks Dubya!
Sounds good to me. I certainly don't want any would be terrorists moving into my neighborhood. It seems like an adequate security measure to me. If you want to bitch about the 20-30 dollar charge, then blame Osama Bin Laden.
I personally like the Patriot Act. Working in a bank i realized the need and everything for it. It is gonna do more good than bad :p

yeah, the patriot act proetects us now, but who knows what it says in the fine print. It said suspected terrorists up there, what if they decide you might be a terrorist?
Shoot Straight . . . Conserve Ammo . . . And Never Ever Cut A Deal With A Dragon
Just my two cents here but what makes you think they are going to need money from a bank ... binladen has millions and millions to help them out . Seems to me the only ones getting screwed are the american citizens .
