I've had 3 Compaqs/HP's, and they are garbage.

Every Dell I've owned has been $$$$$$$$$$$$$

If you can afford it, go with an alienware.
If price is a major concern, like me, check into an hp/compaq.
I have an hp 4500 series, and it's been good to me for almost 2 years now.

also, I got mine from pcwarehouse, as a refurb and it came with a better warrenty, and I saved a few bucks for it being a refurb.

We have a Toshiba I think. I don't know much about computers but my husband LOVES it and is always telling me these neat things about it, that I don't understand.

My g/f and I both have HP laptops for our binesses. Mine's a little over 2 years old, hers is a little under 2 years, and they've been great. My only regret is wasting the money on the extended warranty for each one at Best Buy.
