In the back of my mind is that they could be peaking too soon as far as hitting is concerned.They will need to hit great to overcome the pitching they will face if they don't get Halliday.

Disappointing but not so much.Looks like they didnt give up any of the 3 guys they didnt want to part with so I'm sure the front office is happy.Do you think a 65 year old charlie manuel is happy they didnt trade some guys he'll never manage instead of getting the best pitcher on the market?Either way I'm calling a world series appearance.

Not sure what the Indians got out of the deal.The more I look at it the more I feel they were fleeced.The pitcher they got is in single A and supposedly has arm problems.Carasco is a nobody.The catcher they gave up is supposed to be good but not a major prospect.Nothing worth last years Cy Young winner.
The Phils have a lot of left handers at this point.
I see Pedro being a set up guy and nothing more.
It would be hilarious if they went out and got Halliday anyway.

Lee is a great pickup for the Phillies...but don't forget who he is. He's 31 years old with one (very) good season under his belt and not a whole lot else. he hasn't even been all that great this year; his era is solid but it should probably be higher given his whip.
I think that's why the Phils didn't have to give up a ton to get the guy, which makes it a perfect deal for them.

The Phil's problem NOW is middle relief and closing.Lee is a definite upgrade over J.A. Happ.I think Madsen can be serviceable if Lidge shits the bed.I wouldnt say middle relief is a problem really anyway.More like average.
