Ron Wrote:my buddy and I were just discussing our fantasy football draft strategies. You know some jerk-off will draft Ricky Williams with too high of a pick. I would pick him up in the 6th round. maybe...I thought Manning was the clear number one, he felt it was Culpepper...LT is the number one running back and Moss the best receiver...There is a definite grey zone on really good running backs, after LT, you have maybe E. James and J. Lewis, Alexander is good...Marshall Faulk will have a comeback year and will be a great sleeper pick, we both felt that Priest Holmes, (while still a first round pick) may be on his downslide...tons of comparable good tight ends this year, so be patient...

Strategy

First four rounds, unless I can get Manning, go RB, RB, QB, WR or RB, QB, RB, WR...in the round when everyone starts grabbing TE's, grab another good RB reserve or starting receiver...

blah, blah, blah

all the blah blah blah and not one mention of curtis martin who led the nfl in rushing last year??

I realise that I have a past to break with--an accumulation of inertia, wrong, foolishness, rot, junk.  A great need of clarification, of mindfulness, or rather, of no mind.  A need to return to genuine practice, right effort.  Need to push on the great doubt.  Need for the spirit.  Hang on to the clear light.

Not hardly....being from the Bay Area I bled scarlett and gold (along with sliver and black) until York took over the team from EddieD. He destroyed everything EddieD worked for. Down the shitter, treats people like shit and has no clue what it takes to win. When he ran Marriucci out of town (lost to the team who won the super bowl) I was done with him. I can't tell you how happy I was to see Erickson fall flat on his face with that team. York did a shi*tty thing to get control of the team. I guess he got his just rewards. IMHO it will take a different owner before the 9ers get back to where they should be.

Seriously dude.. I think this is the year they begin a turnaround. I think this years team will be fun to watch. I expect alot of the young guys to grow on the field... for better or for worse. I watched 8 or 10 games last year. It was very hard to watch. The one that broke my back was the Carolina game.... they should have won that. But being a young team they didn't know how to seal the deal. I will say this.. if they aren't 4-4 eight games in they will be in for another 3-13 season along with a high draft pick. York showed this year he dosen't mind paying out people (Smith rewarded the highest rookie contract ever). York also showed that Mike Nolan has full control of the team by letting him trade Engelberger. Granted Engelburger has made great strides but Nolan felt he couldn't lose enough weight to be effective in the new 3-4 defense that they will be running so he got a CB which they needed despertly. Honestly if you watch any of the 9er games I think they will suprise you.

You can't honestly believe they're going to turn it around this year. It'll be remarkable if they win 5 games.

Try to keep in mind that this new NFL has teams that make it to the Championship game one year then finish 6-10 the next year. Truthfully I expect them to win 6 games give or take 2. That will put them with another high draft pick and their cap will have them in position to sign a couple of very good players. I think Nolan is 4 times the coach Erickson was/is. I think its a good time to be a fan.. They will be in position to draft a very very good receiver next year. If they don't want to draft one then I am sure Mooch would send one over....

Their major areas of need are WR, CB, FS... They aren't great in any position except LB... but York will be spending these next few years to try and secure a new stadium..

I'm conflicted about this because I'd like to see the 49ers start to turn it around, but in now way do I want anything good for york to transpire....kind of a catch 22 for me. Since moving to Michigan I have jumped on the Lions bandwagon or should I say I have learned how to deal with heartbreak every year. BUT this is out year

I don't hate any owner. Debartolo was $$$ but keep in mind the reason he sold the team was because he was under federal investigation on some dealing with Edwin Edwards. That being said his sister got first shot at buying the team and she did... The 80's are gone and the patsies are showing how to win in the 2000's... hopefully Nolan and York are taking note.
