Opinions for a money bracket
#1

the way this one works.. you get points for each round.

1 pt first round
2 pts 2nd round
3 pts for sweet 16
4 pts for elite 8
5 pts for final 4
6 points for da champ

any teams that i should a star next to?

I've always thought that a bracket would be better if it were weighted by the SEED that you picked.

If you pick UNC to beat E. Kentucky in round 1 you get 1 point if they win, but if you pick E. Kentucky in round won, you get 16 points if they win. Same in Round 2, etc. Just seems it gives more weight to guys that pick the dogs.

How about:

Round 1: 1 x Seed for points

Round 2: 2 x Seed for points

Round 3: 3 x Seed..........

??

Kinda works but also busts a bunch of brackets. If you pick the E. Kentucky right (16), that's worth more than picking the right #2 seed to win it all (6 games total.)

You really should have the deeper the bracket, the more the points.

Well, that's why I'm saying that you have a multiplier each time a team advances. Say the first time you pick a 2 seed, you get 2 points in round one, then in round 2 if you pick them you get 4 points, round 3 you get 6 points, etc.....

Right, I saw that afterwards... I would love to be in that pool because everyone would be picking lower seeds. Rarely do they do much....

Well, the trick to that method of picking is when you get into the middle games, like #8 playing #9, etc. Even 10 vs 7.

And then if you have a number 2 going to the final four, that is worth twice as much as having a 1 going to the final four.

In some pools I've been in, you get the standard awarded point(s) for a 'favorite' win, but if you pick an upset you get the point difference between the two seedings.
So, if in round 1 you pick a #12 over a #5, you get 7 points for picking that upset.
Same thing for 2nd round upsets, but the seeding difference x2.
3rd round upset, seed difference x3 and so on.

I personally like this method, because it encourages more upset picks.

and you want to do it this way even knowing 8 will be doing the math? he cant even put a sentence together, and you want him figuring this shit out?

I make picks based on who I think will win each game, not based on how many points I might get if I'm right.

Yeah, I forgot. If 8 is gonna be in charge, I say we all turn in our brackets, then we'll follow along and have fun seeing how things turn out, and not grade any of the results. Sort of like a kid's soccer game. Then when its over everyone goes out to CiCi's for pizza. Its more about participation than winning and losing.

Liked:

You got the San Antonio tournament correct.

Didn't Like:

Kansas losing to S. Illinois. Kansas is 5:1 to win the whole thing, S. Illinois is 50:1. You lost huge points in that tournament.

Wisconsin will beat Oregon. Wisconsin 15:1, Oregon 40:1. Didn't lose much there since you still went with Florida to win that division.

Georgetown.

Vanderbilt will beat George Washington.

G-town is not a bad pick. This tournament is wide open.

I like the Zag's to beat IU

Nevada to beat Memphis

Possibly Arkansas over USC

See You In Toledo

Not many. I just go with the current odds. The only upsets I have are:

Xavier over BYU
Villanova over Kentucky
A&M over Memphis

Boring, but I've learned that taking the odds is better than wishing on a star.

Correction:

A&M over Ohio State

And those aren't upsets based on odds, only upsets based on Seeds.

Except for A&M (12:1) over Ohio State (7:1)
