Phils have a 4.45 era. Only team to win the world series with an era that high was the Cardinals whos pitchers pulled there heads out of there asses. I dont see this with the Hamels, Happ, Moyer combo

why do you think "coming off a championship" matters? IT'S NOT 2008 ANYMORE! If anything at all, it's a reason for the Phillies to NOT make a move. They have a championship already, why give away the future?
the Vikings thought they were one piece away, so they traded a TON, didn't win, AND loaded up the Cowboys for a decade.

My argument is so sound I'm not sure how it needs repeating.Draybeck will not be ready for at least 3 years and he's no guaranteed all star.Halliday is a stud already.Do you add a stud now to your roster to lock up a world series or do you hold onto a guy who might be good in 3 years so he can play with your fading cast of used to be all stars?Its a no-brainer.The future is now thats why you stupid fuck.
I talked to a guy who saw Draybeck pitch and when he gives up a home run he throws his glove and stomps around the mound like a spoiled baby.

I also wasn't aware the Jays are trading Halladay for just one prospect.
The Sox stayed away from a Johan Santana trade because the Twins wanted something like Pedroia, Lester, Ellsbury, and Buchholz. Sometimes it's just the right thing to do.

and for the record I think the Phillies should try and get Halladay, I just don't think emptying out the farm system in doing so is the right thing to do.

At the time, Ellsbury and Buchholz were still prospects. Pedroia was in the middle of his rookie season, and I believe Lester was in some stage of his lymphoma comeback. That would have been pre-2007 or trading deadline 2007, if I remember the years right.
Since then, the Sox have a world series, and those players have an mvp, a rookie of the year, 2 no-hitters, and back to back 50 steal seasons. Perhaps more importantly, they signed pedroia and lester to VERY club friendly contracts, which has actually allowed them to cut some payroll.
For the first time in a LONG time, the Sox roster is stocked with their own farm guys, as opposed to mostly being highly paid mercenaries.

looks like the phillies may consider lee now. they sent scouts to see his next start.
the jays have contacted boston,the dodgers,rangers,angels and tampa. no one wants to pay the asking price.
