heading into the all star break

BIRD33 Wrote:The Phil's problem NOW is middle relief and closing.Lee is a definite upgrade over J.A. Happ.I think Madsen can be serviceable if Lidge shits the bed.I wouldnt say middle relief is a problem really anyway.More like average.

How many saves did Lidge blow last year?

0.I'm not sure blowing more then zero means you're done.

the 7.11 era is not a good sign

I realise that I have a past to break with--an accumulation of inertia, wrong, foolishness, rot, junk.  A great need of clarification, of mindfulness, or rather, of no mind.  A need to return to genuine practice, right effort.  Need to push on the great doubt.  Need for the spirit.  Hang on to the clear light.

No but I've watched the guy for years in Houston. His last save recorded without giving up a run was July 9th. He has given up 30 earned runs this year. He gave up 15 all of last year.

Make sure Madsen can take the ball.

Lidge is no doubt shaky right now. They gave him a 5 run lead in the 9th the other night when Hamels easily could have closed it out himself for the complete game. Its was done strictly to boost Lidges confidence and he gave up a monster homer to make everyone nervous.I think they know and Madsen knows he might be the closer by the playoffs.

myers may be back in august. since we have starters, i wouldn't be surprised if he is considered.

Its a nice option to have but Myers is a fucking head case so who knows he might cry that he's not being used as a starter. They are overloaded with pitching right now. This might be Moyers last year as a starter.

Washburn is gone now too. Now I really don't know where the GM is going. Traded prospects for Wilson then traded for prospects for Washburn. Looks to be a couple more sad seasons to be a Mariners fan.

Lee pitched a four-hitter, carrying a no-hit bid into the sixth inning and even adding two hits with the bat, and the Phillies felt an immediate impact two days after acquiring the left-hander from Cleveland, beating the San Francisco Giants 5-1 on Friday night.

I'm reserving rooms downtown for the parade. Its fucking over.

if i felt that sure, i would certainly take the 10 to one odds being offered right now
how much have you bet so far, smart guy?

Not sure if I would book it yet. Your ace Hamels just blew it today contining his trend of a good start followed by 2-3 ok to bad starts

Hamels didnt blow it.If you watched you saw the infield throw the ball all over the infield.Howard played terrible. The only thing that mattered out of that series is Lee getting a solid start for the Phils.

He had started to get it together over the last 5 or 6 games but yesterday it was a combination of terrible fielding and some really weird bloop hits.San Fran must have hit 4 or 5 balls into no mans land behind the infielders. He's certainly not as lights out as he was last year.

As world series champions the Phillies are faced with high class problems most of you joker franchise followers arent familiar with.

Last night was supposed to be J.A Happ's last start before they moved him to the bullpen to make room for Pedro. He pitches probably his strongest game of the year and ends up with the complete game shut out along with his first career double in the 8th.Huge statement game for him.

Now do the phillies still move him to the bullpen despite being their best pitcher the last 60 days?Moyer even with his high ERA has the most wins on the team and from what I hear is not going to consider moving to the pen. He's kind of the team leader so it will hurt morale if they try to force him.Which of the below 4 man rotations do you see the Phil's going into the playoffs with?

Hamels
Lee
Moyer
Happ

Hamels
Lee
Happ
Pedro

Hamels
Lee
Moyer
Pedro

I'm leaning towards Happ and Moyer staying in the 4 man rotation and having Pedro come out of the pen but I hear the Phils are jacked up about Pedro starting and Pedro himself will not want to come out of the pen.I think Moyer and Happ have earned it.
