I saw where they're showing highlights on SportsCenter now. Does this reflect a growth in the popularity of the sport or are ESPN getting some $$$ in the deal?

I don't think they own a piece. The pay per views buys are getting bigger and bigger so that might be why they are showing it.If they try to pass off arena football as a real sport might as well do the same with this.

Colin Cowherd talks about it consistently. It's a legit sport now with regulations, rules and weight classes. Gets higher numbers than boxing nowadays. It deserves to be reported on and ESPN sees it's growth, especially since UFC purchased Pride.

Never bought a pay per view but I watch the reruns if I'm bored.Boxing is more interesting to me.It has more of a sport feel to it rather than the bar room brawl atmosphere I get from the UFC.I like the fact that a boxing match can go 15 rounds rather than choking someone out in 30 seconds.I certainly can see why the UFC is growing, good boxing matchups are hard to find and the UFC provides almost an instant gratification.

UFC is good stuff. I have a few friends who do it on an amatuer level. Shit can be brutal.

I had lunch once with Boom Boom Mancini. It was during the time when Tyson had just been convicted of rape and was put in prison. Boom Boom was personable and outgoing and willing to talk all day about boxing. Back then I followed boxing (not any more, just got into different things) but he was totally cool.

boom boom took way too many shots to the head
I realise that I have a past to break with--an accumulation of inertia, wrong, foolishness, rot, junk. A great need of clarification, of mindfulness, or rather, of no mind. A need to return to genuine practice, right effort. Need to push on the great doubt. Need for the spirit. Hang on to the clear light.

What's with the HBO all access show they're doing with this fight? It's in 4 parts I think.
