1. people speak about your crash for years
2. if you're lucky enough you make famedom "the dude who got his head cut and we found it 10 years later on a glacier atop that freaking mountain"
3. companies racks a lot of money; they gives minimum 100 K USD to the family (yeah that's the minimum)
