1. Hire a competent and experienced general manager. My list would include Randy Mueller, Charlie Casserly, Kevin Colbert or James Harris.
2. Let the GM hire a competent and consistent coach. My wish list: Brian Billick, Jim Hardbaugh, Bill Cowher.
3. Get either Donovan McNabb or Kyle Orton and draft a QB.

I would take McNabb for a year or two max. He is better than either smith. Fuck even shaun hill is better and they gave him away. Its time to fix what has been broken.

-Nothing spectacularly surprising about this, but after speaking with two NFL sources this morning, I can reiterate that it sounds like Jed York has circled Jon Gruden and Jim Harbaugh as his main head-coaching candidates.
Makes sense. It’s not wrong. Gruden and Harbaugh have to be the top candidates for the 49ers’ job and, I believe, under the right circumstances, both would be quite interested.
Wouldn’t shock me at all if there already have been informal discussions with the representatives of both men, maybe even a light conversation between Jed and both primaries.
But York also is going to hire the GM first, and promises that the GM will make the call on the HC, but if he’s doing this right, he knows which GM candidates are most likely to bring in a top guy like Gruden or Harbaugh.

Obviously a good sign.Isnt he the husband of Debartalo's niece?Weird hearing him call him his uncle.
I'd worry about Gruden.The more I think about how he kind of screwed the U by pretending he was interested then when they fire the coach he's not it make me think he's a snake who just used Dungys sloppy second to win that superbowl.

If they get a chance at Newton, Luck or Locker I think they draft them.

Me neither but he's going to get drafted in the high second round at least.Tebow's "success" will improve his draft position.

I'm hearing Harbaugh because he already lives in the area and Michigan thinks they have no shot at him.That would be huge.This GM hire is not that exciting.This guys resume isnt that impressive.Hiring from within makes me nervous when the within is a mess.

I agree but it seems like they had this guy pegged all along. Hopefully Hardbaugh can get more out of the team than Sing...

Now that Luck is coming back to Stanford and Harbaugh turned down 7 or 8 mil a year from Miami I'm starting to wonder if Harbaugh is leaving college.
If that happens then what for the niners?Gruden I guess?

There isn't a whole lot of information left but I'm thinking Hardbaugh is still an option. From what i've heard Michigan offered him 5 mill and he wanted 7 mill from the 9ers....
No idea whats going to happen here.
