It seems obvious and really ironic that it was a huge waste of energy to do that for conservation purposes.Whats wrong with you Euro's?

Well we gotta take all into account before deciding that it was a "waste of time and money" (I'm going to play devil's advocate but in fact I don't really give a rat ass of that story)

For example did they used some people in the need of some work (social benefits through increased self esteem and a bunch of dude doing something somewhat much more interesting than sitting in front of a TV).

Does the company who was hired to do this kind of job had a good return on investment (remember you pay someone/company then they do good work and eventually pays taxes it's not an all lost thing when you are a government) -ie went remarked then someone called'em to do some work...

Yeah at the most it wasn't worth, but it's the beauty of doing something who will "impress" the memory of the people...clearly if you don't want to do things wrong you can just lie down on the ground and wait to die (and well even in that case it would be wrong on many levels).

well I think that even doing this kind of funny stuff we are way below you USA'nians when it's matter to energy consumption.

What's wrong with you americans not ratifying the Kyoto protocol, the land mines interdiction and so on ? (anyhow I won't really enter into that matter with you because you'll run empty quick short).

I'm not sure, how would you acheive such a big audience doing something "special" to, you gotta admit, the benefit of a lot of people, even if really temporary ? (and the two days sequence makes me think that they are going to reuse the grass somewhere).

- print flyers ?
Yeah kill more trees !

- do tv ads/spots/a movie
How many of such do you see, and seriously would you have even got to see it ?

- run some kind of public radio annouce
Yeah cool

Keep in mind all those extraordinary golf courses that you keep green in desert regions (las-vegas for example...).

I agree with your enviromental points but why is america always the target of criticism while you continue to trade with countries like china that are polluting ten times worse than we are?Not to mention 95% of the advances in green technology are coming from america.

You shouldn't take things "personally" when I speak about "usa" (not america, america is a continent), criticism is good, it allows to make things move, criticism is the sane expression of a democracy.

Now don't really think that I criticise america less or "more" than my own country for example but you aren't really aware of my local politics and problems so I just speak with you of things you may ...understand.

As for China's commerce, please, just everyone is using them to produce cheap things so don't think that ignoring them would instantly turn'em into some kind of paradisaic green country.

Yeah may I ask you some source for your "95%" of green technology (just define what is a "green technology" first), and even if your country would have been the only one to produce non polluting technologies yours is definitively not the first one to use'em.
