1. do you use outlook express ?
2. did you changed your parameters ? like username / password ?
3. if 1. answer is yes. Does your account there is still valid (ie if you can access through webmail try to login through that access) - I mean did you paid the bill ?
4. do you have any firewall installed on your machine (some kind "internet security sofware installed lately ?) or maybe your ISP gave you some new fancy options.
5. subsquent of 4 does your email is hosted within your ISP or is it hosted elsewhere ?

the key term here is "connection to your server has failed"

I'm putting my money on the server being down.

And you could lose it all...
There are plenty of reasons why the connection to the server has failed. Could be that the computer couldn't reach the POP server (imagine some router down), The computer having an firewall who blocks certain responses, etc.

Server is "down" should be considered among other options (and like if his isp is serious he's using postfix or some variation and you could almost consider that the server is down option is not to be considered)

zzzzzzzing

I realise that I have a past to break with--an accumulation of inertia, wrong, foolishness, rot, junk.  A great need of clarification, of mindfulness, or rather, of no mind.  A need to return to genuine practice, right effort.  Need to push on the great doubt.  Need for the spirit.  Hang on to the clear light.
