DUH?
Men see a trip to a strip club as a normal and acceptable form of entertainment. And, the industry is now so mainstream that many people refuse to believe that the women who dance are being exploited, or even that there is anything wrong with paying for their services.
Regular visitors to the clubs, far from seeing sexy dancers as unwilling participants in the sex industry, believe they are either helping the women or that they, themselves, are the victims.
Research presented at the annual conference of the British Psychological Society in Manchester is one of the first studies that delves into the attitudes of men who frequent these clubs. Researcher Dr. Victoria Clark said, âNone of these men felt any shameâ¦yet none thought about the idea that the women were unwilling participants.â
